Revenant at The Royal Hotel, Whitby

In late October, Whitby changes character. The harbour, abbey, narrow streets and cliff-top hotels become the backdrop to one of the worlds best-known independent alternative gatherings, as Whitby Goth Weekend, now in its 32nd year, welcomes it’s tribe from across the UK and beyond once more.
Revenant IV, an official alternative WGW Fringe event hosted by Stars & Moon, returns to The Royal Hotel on West Cliff from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026, offering three nights of alternative live music alongside DJs, daytime meet-ups and community events.
What makes Revenant special is how it fits into the rhythm of WGW. Whitby Goth Weekend has never been a single-venue event. The whole town becomes part of the experience, with visitors moving between markets, pubs, hotels, shops, live events, photo spots and informal gatherings. Revenant adds another destination to that map.
The weekend gets a head start on Thursday 29 October with PRELOAD, a free DJ night from 7.30pm until late — because why wait until Friday?
…and the Revenant Lounge continues all weekend:
Friday – Heavier Than a Heavy Thing: DJ Jason spins industrial, new wave and metal for Halloween.
Saturday – Burty’s Big Stick of Rock: DJ Burty delivers a rock-heavy soundtrack.
Sunday – All That Rocks: Jason gives us one final rock-off!!
On Friday and Saturday from 12pm–1pm, the WGW Virgins Meet & Greet gives first-time visitors an easy place to say hello and find their feet. Friday also brings the Mini Moshers Meet from 2pm–4pm, with games, crafts and prizes for under-14s. Saturday features a Horror Quiz from 2pm–4pm, while Sunday rounds things off with Spooky Bingo from 2pm–4pm.
All events in the Revenant Lounge are free of charge, no ticket is required.
Then come the bands. Across three nights, Revenant brings ten live acts to The Royal Hotel ballroom:
Friday 30 October: Morning Star • Famous Monsters • Dhampyres
Saturday 31 October: Aesthetic Perfection • Priest • Ward XVI • Fleisch
Sunday 1 November: Fever Dream Kills • Green Fake • Blush Puppy
Expect eclectic gothic, industrial, rock, metal and theatrical mayhem – the sort of musical mix WGW wears well.
Our programme of events also reflect a wider truth about Whitby Goth Weekend: the alternative scene is no longer one generation deep. Many long-standing visitors now return with children and teenagers of their own, while others arrive for the first time and discover a community that has been evolving for decades.
Younger visitors are welcome. Under-14s can attend ticketed live music events free when accompanied by a paying parent or legal guardian. Parental discretion is advised. Some performances may include explicit lyrics or adult themes.
Across town, the wider WGW community continues at the Bizarre Bazaar at Whitby Leisure Centre, with more than 100 independent traders, artists, designers and makers. Visitors can browse alternative fashion, jewellery, artwork, accessories and gifts before returning to The Royal for afternoon events, food, drinks and music.
Whitby Goth Weekend would not be what it is without the town and people who support it. Shop independent, eat local, chat to the makers, tip the bar staff and be kind to those working through one of Whitby’s busiest weekends.
